Lubana Al Qintar

Lubana Al Qintar, came from Suweida region - the inspiring land of the South of Syria- to join The High Institute of Music in Damascus in 1993 where she studied under the supervision of Russian teacher Galina Khaldiave. Lubana soon excelled as a soprano and was invited to participate in concerts when she was only on the second year of her music studies.
Lubana’s first international experience came in 1996, when she was invited to participate at the international Song Competition of Belgrade, an event open to young opera singers from all over the world, where she was the only representative from the Arab world and managed to obtain the fourth price among two hundred participants.
After this great success, Lubana Al Quintar joined the Royal College of Music in London where, for a year, she continued her training under Kenneth Williams and Graziella Sciutti while also traveling frequently to France to study under Glood Milone. Later, Lubana gain a scholarship to continue her studies at the Conservatory of Maastricht under the direction of Mya Besseling. Her dedication and outstanding qualities as a soprano impressed her teacher and she was invited to participate in the Queen Elisabeth International Competition where she obtained the Prize of the Government of Brusselles Capitale – Brussel Hoofdstedelijk Gewest. Again, Lubana was the only representative from the Arab countries and during the event she had the opportunity of meeting with renounced personalities like the violinist George Van Dam and for her it was a very touching to see the Syrian flag raised high for four days above Brussels’ opera house.
